Sound resonates as a dual character in The Chaotic Violence of Noise and in The Secret Expanse of Silence. It can be as violent as the reverberating and repetitive acts of evil sowing chaotic destruction throughout Earth as it dominates the dominant resident. Sound can also be as peaceful & calming as liquid clouds, life-inducing light and love as it is sifted down from the floor of Heaven’s grate into our earthly firmament. Sound is an aura of feeling and being. If your heart makes no sound, you no longer exist.
Sound is that symbolic trident and majestic element which
– emits an intangible, vibrational rhythm which seizes our attention, connects us to a temporary moment or anchors to long-lasting memory. It has the power to affect and provoke moods of contentment, excitement, sang-froid, fear, anger, awareness, etc.
– can maintain/decay sanity of the mind, “voice” and consciousness because sound does not discriminate, but is, however, susceptible to manipulation in its influential form via interpretation, propaganda and lack of understanding. Listening to the wrong person/message can really muck up a person, but the right person/message can build, encourage and uplift.
– binds humans with each other and our surroundings by letting others know that one exists, that one matters, that one has value or one could simply lie in cowardly silence and be a mental mute… e.g. 1) your vote is your voice, 2) the purchasing power of a people speaks volume in the language of finance or 3) “No Snitchin” sentiments brings no justice to those without a voice.
If you want to succeed or survive in the arts of humanity, nature, self-existence and recognizing good vs. evil….you need not be a master or slave to sound, but be diligent in balancing the sound in which you emit and receive.
